This morning Stations 27 & 44 were dispatched the the area of the 3rd Avenue parking lot for reported garbage truck fire

The truck actually went to 2nd Avenue and 35 North where it dumped his load on fire in the road way to save the truck. Crews arrived quickly and extinguished the fire. Route 35 North was closed for a short period of time while crews operated. There were no injuries and the township garbage truck was saved. Special thanks to Tom’s River EMS and EM for providing some cold refreshments during the incident. Another great opportunity to display the strong team work among the island companies when it is needed!
